Behind the Balance Sheet
Like a lot of people, I finished college and walked straight into Corporate America. It took me all of five minutes to realize I absolutely hated it. I didn't want to climb a corporate ladder; I wanted freedom.
For more than 3 years, I put my head down and focused on one goal: building my "F*** You Fund."
I knew that if I wanted the freedom to walk away from a steady corporate paycheck, I couldn't afford to fly blind with my money. I took what I knew about finance and developed a strict, disciplined approach to organization. I started by getting my personal finances in order—creating strict, intentional "buckets" so that every single dollar had a clear place and a clear purpose.
That financial discipline paid off sooner than I expected. When a real business opportunity finally presented itself, I had the capital ready to deploy.
For the next 15 years, I put those exact systems to the test—building a portfolio of rental real estate while simultaneously running the day-to-day operations of a boxing gym as a minority investor. If you’ve ever been responsible for keeping a business moving, you know the grind—balancing partner expectations, protecting tight margins, and keeping a constant eye on unpredictable cash flow.
That bucket system was my secret weapon. It gave me the clarity and confidence to protect our margins, make smart moves, and grow.
After a decade and a half of hands-on management, I realized what I enjoy most is helping other independent owners find that same financial freedom. That’s why I started my bookkeeping business. I’m out of the daily gym operations, but I’m still in your corner.
When I’m not helping clients, you can find me hanging out with my wife and two daughters. And if you can’t find me there, I’m probably shredding fresh powder. I’m lucky enough to spend one day a week as an instructor at Loveland Ski Area each winter—but don't worry, I’m not abandoning your books for the bumps. I’m still fully locked in and grinding on client accounts all season long. If you want to talk business, snowboarding, or just need to know which lift has the shortest line, give me a holler.
